Your bedroom is the one place you should be able to go to relax and unwind. It is the perfect place for getting away from the stresses of everyday life and to have some alone time. You should make sure that your bedroom is a sanctuary for you and not somewhere for you to watch TV or somewhere for your children to congregate. They should have their own rooms after all to play in. To keep your sanity you should make your bedroom off limits to your children so that you can relax and chill out in peace.
From there you can choose the colours for the rest of the room. You can check online to see what other colours will go well with your base colour. You can also check the colour swatches in the paint department of your local hardware shop. Try not to make your room look too busy or it will be difficult to unwind in there. If your walls are quite bright, then maybe try to choose some plain neutral coloured bed linen to complement the walls.
If you can afford to change the furniture in your bedroom, there are many different types of bed out there which are designed with the utmost comfort in mind. If your room is big enough, getting a king size bed is a great idea as it gives you so much room for sleeping and relaxing in. You can get mattresses made from memory foam which is designed to form around the contours of your body while you sleep, providing the ultimate sleep experience.
If you want your room to be a peaceful haven, then try to keep it as simple as possible. You might want to add a chair in one corner where you can sit and read when you have an hour or so to yourself. Apart from that the only furniture you really need are bedside tables and maybe a chest of drawers. Do not make your bedroom too cluttered or you will find it uncomfortable to sit in and the whole point of trying to relax will be lost.
